A reconstruction of Satyajit Ray's legendary Apu Trilogy, presenting the complete life journey of Apu as a single continuous cinematic experience. Spanning childhood, adolescence, adulthood, love, loss, fatherhood and reconciliation, Apur Jibon seeks to transform the trilogy into one uninterrupted life story while preserving the emotional and thematic integrity of the original films.


Rather than viewing the trilogy as three separate installments, this project approaches them as chapters of a single narrative. The goal is to allow audiences to experience Apu's entire life in one seamless journey, following his evolution from a curious village boy to a man shaped by wonder, hardship, ambition, grief and redemption.


The title Apur Jibon ("Apu's Life") reflects the project's central philosophy:

• APUR JIBON – Reconstruction Edition


A unified presentation of the complete Apu Trilogy, preserving the original black-and-white cinematography while reconstructing the films into a seamless saga experience.


• APUR JIBON – Colorized Reconstruction Edition


An alternative presentation featuring the same unified narrative structure combined with a carefully developed colorized restoration. This edition aims to introduce the story to new audiences while preserving the atmosphere, emotion and spirit of the original work.


Both editions share the same narrative foundation. The difference lies in presentation: one preserves the original monochrome photography, while the other explores a colorized interpretation of the same cinematic journey.


At its core, Apur Jibon is not merely a trilogy compilation. It is an attempt to present one of cinema's greatest human stories as a single epic chronicle of life itself.
