Some films are simply unforgettable.


Ramayana: The Legend of Prince Rama is one of the greatest animated films ever created, admired for its breathtaking animation, timeless storytelling, unforgettable music, and legendary voice performances.


This project also marks a special milestone for CUTSMITH, as it was the very first fanedit project that began my journey into restoration and preservation.


Why This Project?


While newer HD and 4K presentations of the film exist, they often do not include the legendary original Hindi and English dubs that introduced generations of audiences to this masterpiece.


The iconic Hindi cast featuring Arun Govil, Amrish Puri, Shatrughan Sinha, and many others, along with the classic English dub featuring Bryan Cranston and the original voice cast, remains one of the most beloved ways to experience the film.


This project aims to preserve both worlds together.


Project Objectives


- Present the film in the highest-quality official video available.

- Preserve the original artistic style, animation, colors, grain, and cinematic identity.

- Restore and synchronize the legendary original Hindi and English dubs with the best-quality audio sources available.

- Deliver a seamless viewing experience that combines modern picture quality with the classic voice performances.

- Preserve the original pacing, music, sound design, and theatrical atmosphere without altering the filmmakers' vision.


Philosophy


This is not a remake.


This is not a reinterpretation.


This is a preservation project dedicated to bringing together the finest official video presentation with the legendary original voice performances, creating the most complete and authentic experience possible for longtime fans and new audiences alike.


Current Status


The restoration and synchronization work has already been completed.


The only remaining task is the preparation of complete subtitles, after which this Restoration Edition will be released.
